Elastomeric Wall Coating

Professional Elastomeric Wall Coating is a high quality water based finish for exterior use. It is formulated to provide a good balance of elongation and tensile strength. When properly applied the coating will water proof a masonry surface from wind driven rain, and will bridge hairline cracks which typically form in most masonry construction materials.

Available in:

RECOMMENDED USES

  • EXTERIOR VERTICAL CONCRETE AND MASONRY SURFACES

TECHNICAL INFORMATION

RESIN TYPE: Styrene/Acrylic

VOC:

  • Less than 250 g/l

COLORS: White, tintable.

VISCOSITY: 128 - 135

FILM THICKNESS: Apply to a minimum uniform dry film thickness of 15 mils. This is best achieved by the application of two coats, each applied at 15 mils wet.

COVERAGE

Apply at the rate of 120 square feet per gallon or less, depending upon the condition, texture and porosity of the substrate.

APPLICATION

SURFACE PREPARATION:

NEW MASONRY: Allow all new masonry and patching materials to cure a minimum of 30 days. Wash as needed to ensure a surface free of contamination from efflorescence, dirt, wax, oil, grease, release agents, etc. After washing, rinse with clean water and allow the surface to dry thoroughly. Test the pH of the surface and, if necessary, acid wash with Muriatic Acid to bring the pH below 11, and allow to dry thoroughly. The use of a pH tolerant masonry primer/sealer such as Eff-Shield is recommended.

OLD MASONRY: Remove any coating not of good integrity. Clean and patch any crack larger that 1/32" with an elastomeric patching or caulking compound. Patch all other non-moving flaws with an appropriate patching material. Remove mildew by washing with a solution of household bleach and warm water. Wash the entire surface with detergent and water, rince with clean water, and allow to dry thoroughly.

APPLICATION:

Brush, roll, or spray. Backrolling the first coat is recommended when sprayed over rough or porous surfaces. Use only spray equipment recommended for applications of heavy bodied elastomeric coatings, equipped with large mesh or no filters and tip orifice sizes from .028" to .032".

THINNING: Do Not thin.

DRYING TIME:

  • Touch ----------------------- 2 Hours

  • Recoat Spray ---------------24 Hours

  • Recoat Brush/Roll --------- 24 Hours

CLEAN UP: Soap and water.

CAUTIONS, WARNINGS:

Do not apply when surface temperature, or ambient temperature is below 50 degrees F. Do not apply to exterior surfaces when rain is expected within 24 hours. Keep from freezing. Do not take internally. Keep out of the reach of children.
